AMURT was founded in India in 1965, within the spiritual research movement Ananda Marga inspired by the philosopher and humanist P.R. Sarkar.
Its activation in Italy dates back to 1985. The association is part of the AMURT Global Network with branches all over the world.

AMURT Italia is a non-profit organization with juridical personality whose aim is to help underprivileged social groups. The association is focused on environmental and social issues in order to help people to afford a better quality of life. One of AMURT’s main activities is the creation and management of schools, orphan children’s homes and hospitals. It also realizes projects for agricultural development and for drinking water collection, purification and distribution.
In case of natural or man-made disasters, it provides essentials and works on reconstruction.
